Abstract In deep soft rock roadway,supporting technologies and methods which have been adopted in shallow engineering are not applicable due to complex engineering geological conditions. The coupled bolt-mesh- anchor-truss supporting technology is suggested. The rationality and mechanism of the technology are studied by means of theoretical analysis and numerical simulation. Its technical characters and key points are analyzed. The results are applied to the deepest soft rock roadway in China. The rationality of the supporting scheme has been validated by field monitoring.
