| TECTONIC STABILITY ANALYSIS FOR WEST ROUTE OF SOUTH-TO-NORTH WATER TRANSFER PROJECT |

Abstract The west route of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project is planned to transit water by means of long deep-lying tunnels across the Bayanhar Mountain. The key engineering geological problems affecting the safety of the water diversion project are the fault activity and earthquake. The tectonic stability is discussed in this paper. The regional tectonic activity does not affect seriously the safety of water transfer project.
