Abstract Longtan Hydropower Station is a large water conservancy project including electricity generation，flood control，navigation and so on. Layout of the large underground openings and tunnels and its geological conditions are described briefly. Besides，a monitoring-controlling design problem of the underground openings and tunnels is discussed. Monitoring results show that the surrounding rock of the underground openings and tunnels is stable and its design is reasonable.
