Abstract A catastophe model is pu t fo rw ard fo r analyzing destab ilizing m echan ism of f lex ib le and fo lded f loo r. The zon ing of f loo r stab ility in con t ro l space, inf luence of the fo rce mo t ion w ays in con t ro l space on f loo r stab ility and the t rigger m echan ism of vert ical fo rce distu rbance are p robed. The amp le and essen t ial condit ion of deciding destab ilizing is set up. O n the basis of analyzing the effect of variou s affect ing facto rs on f loo r stab ility, the con t ro l coun term easu re of th is k ind of f loo r lif t is also studied by m ean s of FLAC.
