Abstract The diversion tunnel in J inp ing w aterpow er stat ion is located at the region w ith h igh moun tain and great go rge. The su rrounding rock s of the tunnel is of deep em bedded dep th, h igh ground st ress and rich underground w ater. The wo rk ing behavio rs of the liner and su rrounding rock s under the underground w ater condit ion s are system at ically studied and eualuated. Som e suggest ion s fo r the suppo rt design of diversion tunnelw ith h igh groundw ater level are p resen ted.
