Abstract The tube section was influenced obviously by the river environment in the process of tube immersing. The additional pressure of the tube sidewall during the tube immersing can be obtained from numerical simulation on different river environments by computational fluid dynamics method. The analytical results show that when half tube is immersed in foundation trench at the particular moment,the difference of pressure around the tube surfaces changes significantly. Position of the left-right maximum differential pressure raises around the side,while the position of upper-lower maximum differential pressure reaches maximum as the tube is immersed. The river level has no effect on the additional pressure,and the location of the maximum pressure differential point scrolls horizontally. The river flow velocity has a great influence on sidewall additional pressure,and the relationship between the maximum difference in gradient and the river flow velocity near special place can been obtained. The analysis results can provide valuable reference for similar projects.
