含水率及应力对原状黄土静止侧压力系数的影响

Abstract

The determination of coefficient of lateral pressure at rest in a natural soil deposit is a problem of considerable significance in geotechnical engineering. One-dimensional confining compression tests were carried out on specimens of Q₃undisturbed loess with different water contents using an instrument oedometer to measure lateral stress. The influences of vertical stress and water content as well as loading and unloading paths on the lateral stress and coefficient of lateral pressure at rest were analyzed. The expression was presented to describe the relationship between the coefficient of lateral pressure at rest K₀under loading path and vertical stress as well as water content based on test results. The results showed that the coefficient of lateral pressure at rest was not always a constant and could be not calculated with Jaky¢s formula for undisturbed loess. Whereas，it was dependent on applied vertical stress and water content as well as loading and unloading paths. K₀under loading path first increased and then leveled off to a relatively constant with increasing vertical stress. The coefficient of lateral pressure at rest K_0OCunder unloading path increased considerably with decreasing vertical stress，usually in excess of unity. Under both loading and unloading paths，the coefficient of lateral pressure at rest increased with increasing water content. For the same water content and vertical stress，the coefficient of lateral pressure at rest was larger under unloading than loading path. The relationships between K₀ and vertical stress could be described with the hyperbolic expression under loading path for undisturbed loess with different water contents. The results had confirmed that reliable predictions of K₀ could be made using the proposed expression. There was a good power-law relationship between K_0OC and over-consolidation ratio under unloading path，and the value of the power-law exponent was not equal to that proposed by predecessor.
