Abstract:Coal rocks are a natural fractured porous media. The pores and fractures have great influence on permeability. This paper presents a new method for estimating percolation probability of the fractured coal rocks as dual-continua,and develops the relationships between percolation probability and permeability of coal rock samples for quantification of the influence of fractures and pores on coal rocks. The results indicate that the relation between the permeability and percolation probability of the coal rocks follows a power function. The results show that the fracture porosity determines the effects of the pore porosity on the samples and the fractures dominate the overall permeability of the fractured coal rocks, which is totally different from the results of conventional concept of porous media.
