Abstract:Taking the materials of the fine tailings from Longdu tailings pond as a case study,the model,based on the design tailings dam of Longdu tailings pond,was performed to study the stability of fine grained tailings dam in two situations,with and without geo-grid reinforcement. The effects of geo-grid reinforcement were verified. At same time,the failure patterns of dam with and without reinforcement were presented,where the former slide surface is found to be rotational and the later to be wedge. The results provide a new approach in the stability research on fine-grained tailings dam and the application of geo-grid.
