Abstract:The dynamic response of soil to incident plane P-SV waves is studied in this paper. Since the horizontal elastic moduli are often different from the vertical ones,a model of transversely isotropic(TI) stratified media,which takes into account the polarization angles,is used to simulate the soil ground situated on a half space. The dynamic stiffness matrix of the media and the formula of their response to P-SV waves are derived. Some examples are given and the numerical results are taken to illustrate resonant characteristics of the ground and the effects of the anisotropic parameters on field responses.
