Abstract:It is a crucial problem to ensure the safety of the superstructure and underground tunnel construction in urban district,especially for tunneling beneath the building with thin overburden soil layers. Based on Wuhan Yangtze double-tube parallel shield tunneling project,3D numerical simulation of the effects of double-tube parallel shield tunneling on a neighboring 5-story building with reinforced concrete frame structure,through which the shield tunneling will cross,is studied by finite element program ABAQUS. The spatial distribution of the ground settlement is investigated. The settlements observed in the field are consistent with numerical simulation results. The deformations of soil and buildings,which are induced by shield tunneling,can be predicted and analyzed.
