DEVELOPMENT OF MULTIFUNCTIONAL LAMINAR SHEAR CONTAINER FOR SHAKING TABLE TEST

Abstract:Shaking table test is an important method to study soil-structure dynamic interaction. The property of soil container directly affects the accuracy of test result. So a multifunctional laminar shear container is firstly designed for shaking table test after summarizing development experience of soil container at home and aboard. The multifunctional laminar shear container can be used to do one-dimensional,two-dimensional and three- dimensional shaking table test. Meanwhile,the stiffness of soil container could be adjusted according to type of model soil,which is applicable to decrease boundary effect. Then a shaking table test on soil-underground structure dynamic interaction,of which the structure laying in clay is conducted. The test results show that the soil container can eliminate the boundary effect when the dynamic load is applied to only one horizontal direction. Results of another shaking table test on three-dimensional soil-underground structure dynamic interactions,of which the structure laying in clay with laminated sand show that the soil container eliminates boundary effect quite well in two mutually perpendicular horizontal.
