Abstract:A water inrush case upon roof bed separation of the ultra thick coal seam during the full-mechanized caving mining was analyzed. The types of water inrush in bed separation were summarized and the mechanism of formation of the hydrostatic water inrush in roof bed separation of a mining face was discussed. The possible separation locations in the studied area were calculated. The method of prevention of water inrush from roof bed separation was introduced in detail. Proposed drill holes penetrating through up to ground surface drained the water in the separation effectively. The relationships between the mining height and the water inrush from the separation,and the relevance of the mining rate and the water yield in the separation were studied.
