Abstract:The sharp increase in size of underground structures brings great challenge to the anti-floating design. An ordinary passive scheme usually means a huge cost financially and timewise. A new active anti-floating method together with a case of application is presented. The method is to reduce the water pressure acting on the underground structures by draining the water out with a drainage corridor around the underground structure. The critical problem of the method is how to design the drainage system with the good long-term performance and how to control the environmental impact caused by the drainage. The characteristics of the drainage corridor, the factors involved deeply in design, the analysis method and the case monitoring data were discussed in detail. The proposed method has an overwhelming advantage in finance and time over the ordinary anti-floating method.
