Abstract:In recent years,pipe-jacking method is being used to construct various kinds of underground tubes or tunnels more popularly in urban area or when crossing river. Due to the development of municipal engineering, much more attention should be paid to the effect of pipe-jacking on closer environment. The construction mechanics effects of pipe-jacking with earth pressure balance are analyzed, for instance, the bulkhead pressure, stratum loss, and grouting. Then 3D FEM is employed to calculate additional stress of surrounding soil and surface deformation caused by excessive bulkhead pressure, stratum loss, grouting and their composite operation, respectively. The study illustrates the effect scope either in longitudinal or in transverse section caused by different elements of pipe-jacking,which can help researchers to understand the environment effect of construction in more detail. And at the same time, the quantitative results and some discussions can make for in-situ engineers to make decisions on their own for these effects in advance.
