Abstract:As a newly developed means of numerical method, the coupling method of finite element method (FEM) and element-free Galerkin method(EFGM) not only is of the advantage of FEM,but also makes the use of the EFGM localization technique and the element-free character. The EFGM is introduced in detail and the FEM-EFGM discrete style of Biot consolidation equation is deduced. Calculations and analyses are made on the pore-pressure and flux of the single sand-well foundation and a site of vacuum preloading. As a result, the comparison of the results of analytical solution and in-situ data shows that the EFM-EFGM is more accurate in calculation and the treatment of boundary, and the solution of fluid flux can conform with practice. Basides, the characteristics of meshless and local approximation indicate that the coupling method is more effective and flexible in both theoretical study and practical application.
