Abstract:The isotropic hardening law on a yield surface with multiple strength parameters is discussed in detail. Some arguable formulations in literature are pointed out. The definition of the effective plastic strain in the classical plasticity theory is generalized. These issues are vital to numerical modeling of strain softening problems.
