ACQUIRING MECHANICAL PARAMETERS OF ROCK BASED ON ROTATIONAL CUTTING

Abstract:A system of rotary penetration was developed combining the advantage of rotary drilling and static penetration with verifications from laboratory tests and theoretical study. According to the mechanism of rotary penetration,the relationships between the drilling pressure,the torque and the feed per rotation in the processes of cutting,the direct pressing and the bit pressing have been found. The formulae for the compressive strength,the elastic modulus,the internal friction angle and the cohesion of rock were derived on the basis of laboratory test results. The method was applied to the fly ash blocks and the measured results were in good agreement with the calculated ones,which indicated the feasibility of the proposed method.
