Abstract:For the solution of acceleration factor in slope stability analysis, the normal force of the slice base is directly assumed based on the equation of the normal force of the slice base, which makes the calculation of the normal force of slice base have two factors to be determined. Compared with the traditional inter-slice force assumption, the proposed assumption is more sufficient in theoretical foundation and clearer in physical meaning. By simplifying the three global limit equilibrium equations (horizontal force equilibrium equation, vertical force equilibrium equation and moment equilibrium equation) for potential slide mass by the assumed normal force of slice base,a linear equation of the acceleration factor is derived, the root of which is the explicit solution of the acceleration factor for general slice method and rigorously satisfies the global equilibrium conditions for potential slide mass. Although there are more parameters involves in the computation, the computation is simple algebraic summation and the computation precision is satisfying. The presented method greatly simplifies the calculation process of the acceleration factor for general slice method with rigorous framework. On this basis,a methodology to solve the safety factor is established. The example analysis indicates that the proposed explicit solution to the acceleration factor for general slice method is correct and the proposed method is reasonable and effective.
