| Dynamic response of saturated soil around piles based on a poroelastic half-space model |

Abstract This paper employs a poroelastic half-space model to analyze the dynamic response of saturated soil induced by a vertically vibrating pile. A two-step analytical framework is utilized: the pile response is first derived using a plane strain model, which is subsequently input into the half-space model to obtain the soil′s dynamic response through Fourier-Hankel transforms. Results under various conditions align well with existing solutions, thereby validating the proposed model. Based on Biot?s theory of poroelasticity, this study elucidates that fluid-solid coupling significantly increases the compression wave velocity, while the radial propagation of pore pressure is less influenced by variations in soil shear stiffness. These findings provide theoretical support for vibration isolation design and pile integrity testing using the parallel seismic method in saturated soils.
