Abstract Aiming at the circumstances where the face of rock base of southwestern mountain area in China rises and falls seriously,the internal forces of frame structures with the various rock foundations are computed with interaction method and traditional method,and the comparison is made on the two groups of data. The calculation indicates that the pile-top stiffness coefficients differ greatly from each other for the given case,and the inferior stress in the upper structure becomes quite large because of the uneven pile-top settlements.
