Abstract As a result of non-destructiveness and quick acting，gamma rays are widely applied to quick and undisturbing measurements. As we all know that bulk density and water content of a specimen will simultaneously change when it is under the action of force and water. Therefore，two type of isotope and two kinds of gamma rays are adopted in measuring bulk density and water content of the specimen at the same time. Based on the achievements of nuclear physics， the equation is deduced for measuring bulk density and water content of specimen in the triaxial test using two isotopes and two kinds of gamma rays.
