Abstract In this paper, the key factors influencing c (cohesion)and φ (internal friction angle) of engineering rock masses is abstracted with consideration of physical and mechanical properties of rock masses. The selection method of c and φ values is discussed based on the fuzzy comprehensive judgment theory and an improved weight calculating method is proposed by means of the grey relation degree. The results show that the presented method is more efficient than that of the empirical formula.
