Abstract Measurable prefabricated drains of high quality are developed in recent years. The discharge capacity and the mechanical properties of these prefabricated drains are improved significantly due to easy measuring of penetrated depth in soft foundation，changing in wrapping mode of drain cores and employing of new material. Prefabricated drains are adequate to the worse construction environment and can meet the demand of higher project quality. So they are excellent and hopeful material in soil improvement.
