Abstract The applications of fiber reinforced plastic(FRP) bolts in rock and soil engineering are a highlighted topic in civil engineering research. The material development，constituent components and manufacture process of FRP bolts are presented，and the advantages of FRP bolts and the application of them to the field are discussed. The design problem of FRP is also analyzed.
