ANALYSIS ON ACTIVE BULK-SOLID PRESSURES ON CURVY WALLS AND ITS APPLICATIONS |

Abstract The method of wedges (or the limit equilibrium method) is employed to analyze the distribution of active bulk-solid pressure on curvy walls,and then the method called modified Coulomb¢s formula for curve retaining wall is developed by modifying the formula for beeline wall. The method considers the difference of the two slipping wedges behind the beeline wall and the curvy wall,and a volume-revising coefficient is introduced. Finally,the method is applied to the squat silo walls,and the results agree well with those of the full-sized silo experiment.
