Abstract Because vane shear test can obviously improve the veracity of the mechanical indexes for saturated soft clay，it is applicable to coastal area with soft soils and in calculation the important mechanical parameters of foundation such as the bearing capacity of foundation and the sensitivity of soft clay. Based on the test principles and calibrating method of electrical-logging vane shear test and construction experiences of soft soil foundation in Dongying coastal area in Shandong Province，the relational expressions of parameters of vane shear test in this area are put forward.
