| SHEAR STRENGTH PROPERTIES OF LIGHTWEIGHT BEAD-TREATED SOIL MADE FROM DREDGED SILT |
Abstract Lightweight bead-treated soil made from dredged silt is a new type of lightweight geo-materials(LGM). The meso-cracks in lightweight bead-treated specimen are found to generate from the interface between expanded poly-styrene (EPS) beads and solidified soil particles .With the additive amounts of cement and beads of EPS,the Mohr-coulomb envelope curve of the lightweight bead-treated specimen has two types:folding line and straight line. Different from natural soils, the damage of cementation should be considered in the strength mechanics of lightweight bead-treated soil.
