Abstract For high-speed railway，deformations of embankment are divided into three categories：(1) residual deformations due to loading of train during transport operation；(2) elastic deformations due to loading of train during transport operation；and (3) consolidation of embankment and foundation. As to red layer，which belongs to weak rock，its engineering properties are unfavorable bad because that it is easy to collapse，and its strength is very low.
