Abstract According to the calculation for the lining structures of deep tunnel,the hypotheses that the activated rock caused by the blasting wave is rigid body and the lining is built with reinforced concrete are put forward. By using the incompressible rigid-plastic model and the upper limit analysis theory,the impact force component of the lining on the rock blocks can be obtained by establishing the kinematical admissible velocity field. Considering the effects of longitudinal reinforcements on spalling and penetration,the approximate calculation formulae for critical thickness of spalling and penetration of reinforced concrete structure featuring with physical basis are obtained based on the characteristics of resistance curves. The reliability and practicality of the method are verified by comparing with the empirical formulae.
