Abstract The nonlinear equations of gas seepage in coal considering adsorption effect was established based on the relationship between the permeability of coal and the quantity of adsorbed gas from the earlier experimental results. The dimension and the physical meaning of the parameters in the derived equations are clearer. Darcy?s law is a special case of the derived equations. An analytical solution of the gas seepage equation was derived. This analytical solution reflected the migration of the gas in coal seams faithfully. There was a good agreement between the results from the new model and the experiment results of gas flow in coal sample.
