Abstract In the construction of underground projects, the parameters and measures of excavation and supporting are usually determined by the stability class of the surround rock. In the construction area of water and hydro-electric projects, a research result was gained for surround rock stability classification according to the geologic and mechanical parameters. But there are some shortcomings in using it. After researching, a Fuzzy synthetic evaluation model is established. Testified by the practice, the model can make up for the shortcomings and make it easy and reasonable to use the old result.
