Abstract:The mesoscopic damage development in soft soil was studied based on the triaxial test results measured with the CT in real-time. The relationships among the macroscopic and mesoscopic parameters and damage variable were investigated. The damage variable and its threshold value according to the mesoscopic parameters were determined. The close relationships were found among the average CT number, the shear stress ratio η and the damage evolution. The damage variable and parameters on the basis of average CT number were defined by the meso-parameters. A linear equation between the damage variable and shear stress ratio is presented, and an elastic damage model is established. The results calculated with the presented equation are in good agreement with the experimental data.
