DETERMINATION OF ULTIMATE BEARING CAPACITY OF ROCK FOUNDATION BASED ON UNIFIED STRENGTH THEORY

Abstract:The formulas of bearing capacity of rock foundation are established in conditions that the problem of bearing capacity of rock foundation is taken as the spatial problem and the intermediate principal stress is considered based on unified strength theory. When influence coefficient of intermediate principal shear stress b = 0,the formulas are the same as those by Mohr-Coulomb theory. The effect of b on bearing pressure is discussed,and the results show that the bearing capacity of rock changes with b.
