Abstract:The permafrost or seasonal frozen soils are undesirable engineering geologic condition and the frost heave and thawing settlement will influence the stability of foundations. The Huangji 220 kV transmission line passes Tianshan permafrost region of Xinjiang. The field shear test, the field thawing compression test and the field static loading test in this region are systematically described. All these field test results provide firsthand data about characteristics of the frozen soil ground in this region and a basis for optimizing the design.
