Abstract:Structure and support failures of mine tunnels are general problems for deep mines in high in situ stress rock masses,and they have great influence on production and economic performance of mines. Based on geological conditions of rock masses and measurements of in situ stress and laboratory tests results,3 numerical models are set up to optimize tunnel shape which will be constructed in -780 m level of Huainan Mines. 3D numerical simulations of the models have been performed and compared for the best tunnel shape for both the stability and convenient construction. The optimal shape is suggested based on numerical results of distribution of plastic zones,tensile stress zones and displacements at key points. The optimal scheme is applied into the practical case.
