Abstract Through discussing the successful experience of underground storage construction in foreign countries,it is indicated that storing oil and gas resource in underground salt cavern storage is a mature applied technology and the trend of development around the world at present or even the future. Combining the foreign successful experience of storage construction with the practical condition of petroleum reserve in our country,the key technological issues in the progress of the design of underground storage construction is discussed,which will be of referenced value and practical significance for the research of underground storage construction project and scientific decision making.
