Abstract:By employing the technique with which the fictitious joints behave as intact rock, the stress state at fault ends is successfully modeled. It is shown that there is stress concentration at fault ends and that the areas of stress concentration distribute asymmetrically at the two ends of fault. It is found that the boundary stress ration Kb,the internal friction angle of the fault as well as the angle between fault direction and maximum boundary stress affect the extent of stress concentration.
