DAMAGE MODEL BASED ON THE ENERGY DISSIPATION PRINCIPLE

Abstract:Based on the theory of irreversible thermomechanics and from the point that the dissipated energy results form the microcracks,the Helmholzs free energy function is defined,and thus the way of constructing damage model is obtained for brittle materials. Combining the character of rock mass,the definite constitutive equation is given out for cracked rock mass containing single set of joints under the plane strain state. The damage evolution is also given out on the basis of other’s former research.
