ANALYSIS OF CONSTRUCTION AND POST-CONSTRUCTION SETTLEMENT DATA CAUSED BY IMMERSED TUNNEL

Abstract:The measured data of settlement from 19 immersed tunnels were collected at home and abroad. The changing regularity of construction settlement,post-construction settlement,total settlement and the differential settlement between both ends of tube and its joints were analyzed. The statistical results show that:(1) the average value of construction settlement is 53 mm,which is no more than 100 mm in general;(2) the average value of total settlement is 108 mm,which is no more than 200 mm in general;(3) the construction settlement takes an average percentage of 56% in the total settlement,indicating construction settlement is the main reason for the total settlement. The settlement grows up after the construction but the post-construction settlement is small in general;and the average differential settlement between both ends of tube caused by construction and total settlement are 21 and 40 mm,respectively. The differential settlement at the tube joints caused by construction and total settlement are 18 and 12 mm,respectively. The differential settlement between both ends of tube is larger than that in joints,which can easily lead to cracking of immersed tunnel.
