3D NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF THE HIGH CUT SLOPE OF TIANWAN NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

Abstract:The mechanical parameters of rock masses are controlled by rock and structural planes,the determination of which is one key issue in numerical simulation of rock engineering. In the case of the high cut slope of Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant,mechanical parameters of rock are obtained by laboratory tests,and parameters of structural planes by field investigations. Considering the structural planes as initial damage,damage mechanics is applied to analyze the deformation parameters of rock masses by discounting mechanical parameters of rock. Meanwhile,RMR classification and the Hoek-Brown criterion are employed to estimate the strength parameters of rock masses. Three excavation schemes of the high cut slope are simulated by this methodology with the data of field and laboratory investigations,and a reasonable scheme is proposed consequently.
